Beliefs And Mental Model

Beliefs:

     What Is It?

According to Henry Epp's book, (Leadership),  "Mainstream psychology and related disciplines have traditionally treated belief as if it were the simplest form of mental representation and therefore one of the building blocks of conscious thought. ", meaning that, to mainstream psychology, beliefs are simple but still important to the conscious thought.

If a leader believes he  is better than the ones he leads, he would have a leadership that would be more "closed", because he doesn't believe that others sugestions can be as good as his. And a leader that believes that the ones he leads are as good as him or better than him, this leader, is going to have a leadership that is more "opened", accepting the sugestion and ideas of others.

Mental Model:

   What is it?

The Mental Model is build with the experiences you been trought, it is the way that your brain see and "read" the things that happens to you and to your surroundings. Your generation is also important to your mental model, one example is that, someone from my generation, if this person have a need to do a research for school, he is probably going to search on the internet, and someone from the generation of my granpa is said to do the same thing, this person will probably search on books.

How Can It Influenciate Your Personal/Profissional Choices?

If you, at somepoint of your life, is assaulted, you will start to be more paranoic and cautious when walking on the streets, if you weren't ever assaulted you may be more relaxed.
If someone have a mental model more directed to technology, this person is probably going to have a job less traditional, and with more technology.

Employability And Workabilty. What does it mean?

Employability :
Employability is a management philosophy which recognises that employment and market performance stem from the initiative, creativity and competencies of all employees, and not just from the wisdom of senior management.
For employers, it involves creating a working environment that can provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, within a management environment where it is understood that talented, growing people mean talented, growing organisations.
For many employees, the new contract would involve movement towards a greater commitment to continuous learning and development, and towards an acceptance that, in a climate of constant change and uncertainty, the will to develop is the only hedge against a changing job market
